Appearance

APPEARANCE: If there is one thing about Miles, it is that he is a solid guy. Coming to just around six feet and one inch, he is neither bulky nor stocky, and definitely not thin. He had toned compact muscles from his almost obsessive need to stay in shape. And that is ‘stay in shape’ and not ‘building muscles’. His hair is a chestnut brown, medium and kept cut short. As to if there is facial hair, it all depends on if he’s forced by his mother to shave, otherwise he likes to keep some stumble. His skin is fair, and he has some freckles on his body, all topped off with his baby blue eyes. He thinks they’re his best feature.

As for his style, it is a perpetual state of casual. He likes to look good, but he doesn’t see a need to walk around all trussed up. Especially since he’s a Hitwizard. He’d much rather be in clothes that will not inhibit his ability to move and run, so Robes are generally not worn. This leaves him in casual slacks, shoes built for running, shirts and sometimes a vest. Jackets and cloaks are only worn if the weather demands it.

He walks with his back straight and his shoulders held back in their proper place, completely confidant in himself and what he does. He does, however, have an air of 'I don't care' around him that he uses to throw people off. He presents himself as an athletic jock who is only good at the physical end of tings. As such his speech and nature can be a bit crass, and his sense of humor is raunchy at best.

Personality

WAND: 10 in. Macore wood wand with Manticore Hair core.
Macore: A powerful wood which feeds off the elements of fire and earth. Requires a companion of strength. Can be used to improve life or destroy it. Excellent for white or dark magic.
Manticore Hair: The manticore is an intellegent yet ferocious creature. With the brave heart of a lion and the cunning head of a human, the manticore is not a beast to be trifled with. A manticore hair would be a wise choice for one who wishes to cast dangerous hexes or miraculous charms. It would make an excellent companion to woods that draw of the element of earth.
BOGGART: Was an empty crib, is now a small, empty bed. He fears losing his son.
PATRONUS: Bull.
Strength and potency, the bull is a symbol of mobile power.

DETAILED PERSONALITY: What is there to say about Miles? Well, it is easy to see that he is a cocky bastard. But that cockiness he has is worn like a suit of armor almost. It is as if it and his snarky, raunchy kind of humor are meant to keep most at arm’s length. Or, more like it is a test. Can you deal with it? Fine, then you can come in closer. Or something to that extent, though some people can stomach him but he still can’t stomach them. And to add on to this? He can be blunt, but he is never tactless without meaning to be. Never.

Miles can be creative, though not in the artistic sense, but in how he thinks. Not really analytical and one for elaborate strategies, he likes coming up with unique and creative takes on a situation. He’s one that takes the ‘book’ and rewrites it to be more interesting without bending the rules too far. Which can make him loads of fun to work with, when mixed with the ambition that comes from being a Slytherin as well as his innate ability to lead and his enthusiasm. But also, he can be kinda bossy and patronizing… a downright asshole if you do not mix well with him in a work environment… or any other environment as well.

On the social end of things he can be a good, long lasting friend once you get that far, faithful in his own way. But he can be a bit… nosey. He likes to know things, figure things out. You could say it’s the Hitwizard in him. Just can’t switch off that need to know and figure things out too easily. On the romantic side, though, it is a different story. He’s a rough around the edges type. He can be warm, passionate and even loving in a private setting, but get him in a public one? And he is awkward as all hell. Even with Carmina, he seemed distant at times in public. He’s just not use to having an actual relationship. Sadly, this also means he has an awkward relationship with his son. He loves him to death, but there are just a lot of things he doesn’t understand with fatherhood, even now. He knows, or thinks, that introducing a mother figure into the picture could help in that regard... but he's too damn picky about the type of woman he would ever allow near Lucas.

History

CHILDHOOD: The childhood of Miles Bletchley is a rather simple story. Born the first child and male heir to a family that could only be considered upper middle class for the simple fact there was still some of the Bletchley fortune to be had, his life was an easy one, if not overly extravagant like those he grew up with. Not that it really mattered much. Just meant he had a nanny, but no tutors, and his clothes were good, but not overly expensive. Still, he was a Bletchley, and the Bletchley’s were once a rich and powerful Pureblood line, to be respected even now after the decline of the family brought on by his great-grandfather’s gambling habits.

Raised by parents both firmly entrenched within the Department of Magical Law Enforcement was a show in how such children received favoritism. He got away with a lot, and was dotted on by his parents for being the eldest and the male heir. This lead to his pompous, cocky ways. He was also a very active kid, having taken to Quidditch at a young age. Falmouth Falcons have always been the team he supported. And as with any child of a wizarding family, or at least most, Miles showed signs of magic at the appropriate times.

HOGWARTS. When entering Hogwarts, his family had some concern. They were quite certain he would not follow after his mother and go into Ravenclaw. Sure, he was a bright lad, but he was not Ravenclaw intelligent. However they were not entirely certain he would follow after his father and go into Slytherin. Their worst fear was him entering into Gryffindor, and there for being led astray by the ideals of that particular House. Far from being Purist fanatics, they still saw it as inappropriate to mix the lineage and befriend those who were seen as less. They had nothing to fear, though. It took the Sorthing Hat no time at all to call out Slytherin, and there he went to the table inhabited by the Silver and Green.

His first year would become mostly a blur, consisting only of firm memories of meeting those who would become his friends. As such, second year came around and Miles went onto the pitch and outshone the crappy Keeper they had, effectively taking his spot on the team, where he would stay until the end of schooling.

In classes, Miles did well. A tad above average in most classes, but he showed great aptitude for wand work. Charms, Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts were the classes he earned top marks in. He was a quick learner, and genuinely enjoyed performing his spells effectively. But as the years passed and whispers of the Dark Lord and the Death Eaters started to resurface, Miles became seduced by the idea of learning some of those spells that were less than favorable by those in power. This was in his later years, of course, and a secret he kept to himself, letting only his closest of friends know he learned them.

When it came to love, well, Miles knew little of it. Oh, he knew the concept of love, but he never ‘got it’. He lusted like crazy, but love was something he never felt. Not in school at least. Flings and one night stands peppered his schooling from his Fourth Year up until his Seventh year, loving how easy it seemed to be to play the field. Though he was lucky to have left school when he did and escape the stressful times to come.

POST-HOGWARTS. There was one thing Miles wanted to do when he graduated. He wanted to have one more summer break to himself, and he wanted to be somewhere warmer and more exotic than England. It was decided that Spain would be a good compromise, not to mention along with French, Miles had a passing understanding of Spanish. So off he went to lounge until just before the beginning of September in Spain.

It was within his first week in the little coastal town of Motril that he met her, Carmina Costa. She was a true Spanish Beauty, and for the first time Miles found himself smitten. He pursued her, and her midnight black hair and dark brown eyes haunted his dreams. Her beauty and the ‘spice’ of the summer in Southern Spain pulled him under her spell. It was a form of love, but it was a passionate, obsessive kind of love. The passion of a summer romance. The of the rising of the Dark Lord had him easily becoming entranced by her, if only to escape the gloom in England.

But she was a very smart woman. She knew all too well that while he seemed too infatuated with her to care of the fact she held no blood in her veins other than that of muggles, he was in the end the son of a pureblood family. The summer would end, and he would go. She knew when, a week before his scheduled departure, he began speaking of staying with her and never returning home… she had to leave. And she did. She slipped from his bed as he slept soundly and disappeared into the night, fleeing to family she had in Madrid that he knew nothing of, as they were deeply within the muggle world, she left Miles to a week of dark brooding under the Spanish Sun.

Miles returned home in a foul mood. He was insufferable. He snapped at all, unable to be handled by any but his closest friends. He drank and he slept around worse than before, training to be a Hit Wizard amongst it all, with the chaos swirling around him. Then, a month after leaving Spain he found the ghost which had haunted him this whole time standing in his living room as he returned home from training. It was Carmina, his Carmina, and she brought unexpected news. She was pregnant, and her parents had cast her out, shamed by her unwed status.

His parents bulked at the idea he had bedded a muggleborn, but they could not deny the fact that she was beautiful and smart. There was, really, only one thing to do. They wed quickly and quietly, the news of his sudden marriage coming out as a shock to all but his closest in family and friends. Though once Carmina showed a tad too early than she should have been, everyone pretty much guessed as to why. The marriage did have one benefit, it brought Carmina’s parents back around to talking to their daughter once more. And despite the obvious wear and tear upon her with mingling with the people he’d spent his life around, and pretending to be a woman who’d been raised in a pureblood society things went relatively well. Sure, they fought – Carmina did have a hot temper in her hormonal state – but there was still that passion, only just barely cooled by the change of environment in the beginning.

Maybe if things had gone on longer the hot, passionate kind of feelings they had for each other could have turned into a stronger, truer kind of love, but they never had a chance. April first, nineteen ninty-six, started out at a slightly cloudy day. Feeling the constriction of the English Pureblood life she had to escape for a time, and walked out into muggle London. Then it started to rain, heavily. She was lucky enough to quickly find an umbrella to use, and was heading back to the Leaky Cauldron to Floo home. She was waiting at the corner, ready to cross when a car spun out of control and went up over the curb, hitting her and one other.

It was only because a wizard who was able to recognize her that Miles and his family knew of what happened, but it was too late. She’d been rushed to a Muggle Hospital, surviving only long enough to give birth to her son six weeks too early. Miles arrived in time to say goodbye, and to hear the name she had given their son from her own lips; Lucas Miles. For those first few months he mourned her in his own way, seemingly having fallen into a state of utter numbness. He didn’t cry. He just held his son as she was buried in the small graveyard in the town she had loved so much, where she had been born and where they had met. She had been a mother for only fifteen minutes.

Miles was woken from his emotional fog by the chaos of the Death Eater take-over. He was in the Ministry, and to protect his family he would stay there. But he had his son to think of as well, and that was what snapped him out of it. If they found out his son was a halfblood… He did not want to think of what could possibly happen to him, so he sent Lucas to live his in laws back in Spain while terror reigned in the United Kingdom.

Miles kept his head down low, and did his work. He supported neither side, and just did his job. For his family, he stayed neutral, and ignored the growing confusion that was brought on by Carmina and now his son. For their safety, he would push it aside. He could not dwell on such things.

Relief came when the war was finally over. His family had made it out, including his sister whom he, in all honesty, had little to do with their entire life. Really, two such siblings could not be less involved in each other’s lives, but that seemed to change in the aftermath of the war. They grew closer, especially once Lucas was returned to his father. He’d missed almost a year of his son’s life.

Since then, Miles has spent his time balancing his life. There was family, of course. His mother was there for him, always stepping in when he had work, or just needed to get out for some adult time. Then there was work, which he excelled at. It was truly work he loved, even if he had mainly entered into it because his father was a Hitwizard as well, and it just seemed to be in the family blood. Then there was play. He still had to play. Once a week he goes out, not returning until the next morning, hung over half the time, and always after finding someone to take to bed. Only, this time he was very careful with every female he takes to bed. He does not want another surprise child coming, especially from a woman that meant nothing to him. And as such, his life has continued.

Misc.

COMMON KNOWLEDGE:
  • It is known that he was the Keeper for the Slytherin team, and yes, he did in fact jinx Alicia.
  • He was a gigantic git back then, everyone knows this.
  • He liked to get around, never had a serious relationship.
  • It is known that after celebrating the end of Hogwarts in Spain, a month after the two month trip there, a Spanish beauty suddenly popped up and was introduced as his wife. All gave a nod of understanding as suddenly her belly was nice and round. Shot-gun wedding.

SECRETS:
  • It is a secret that Carmina was, in fact, muggleborn. His parents went through much in the way of making sure no one questioned whether or not she was pure in blood. Only his family knows this.
  • He knows Dark Arts spells, including the unforgivables.

PARTICIPATION: Not currently
SOUL MATE ATTRIBUTES: For Lover... It has to be someone who would get on with Diego. Miles could never love someone who doesn't also love his son. He may be an awkward arse, but he's very family oriented. Male or female, doesn't matter. Hasn't taken the potion yet. Able hold their ground in his family, and among his friends. Muggleborn, halfblood or pureblood. They also have to be able to present themselves in an acceptable manner is such pureblood and high society functions as the Bletchley's are constantly invited to, so not embarrassing actions.

PLOT IDEAS: I'd like for his struggle with the purist mindset to be a more prominent thing with him, as he's just kinda pushed it aside for now. I would also like for him to deal with telling some friends or them finding out that Carmina was muggleborn. Or even have it to where it comes out publicly for all to know somehow. I like some good drama sometimes.
